Howdy Misfit Members! Happy Thursday! The weather seems to be cooling off, and we only have a couple more days left of sunsets after 8pm. Fall seems to be upon us, which means we're moving back into the more lighter weeks. Here's what you'll find in your basket this week:
-Tomatoes: -Red Slicers, Carbon, Orange Jubilee
-Roma, grape, and cherries
-Peppers: -Bell, Banana, Poblano, Sweet Gypsy, Habanero, Jalapeno
-Sweet Corn
-New Potatoes or Sweet Potatoes
-Carrots and/or Baby Beets
-Eggplant, Delicata Squash, Yellow Squash, or Broccolini

This was one of those weeks that I had a few random things ready so everyone got something different. These were mostly late summer crops that are reaching the end of their productivity.
Pepperonata
Ingredients:
-4 Bell peppers, sliced into strips
-2-3 large tomatoes, peeled and chopped
-1 white or yellow onion
-4 cloves of garlic, minced
-1/4 cup olive oil
-Salt and pepper to taste
-Basil to garnish (optional)
Directions:
-Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat.
-Add peppers, tomatoes, onion, and garlic to the skillet. Season with salt & pepper.
-Cover and cook on medium-low heat for about 30 minutes minimum. Depending on how soft you like your pepperonata, you can cook it up to one hour.
-Garnish with chopped basil nd serve.
Pepperonata can be served on crusty bread as an appetizer/bruschetta sort of thing, or as a side to a pasta dish. Either way, it's soo good! If you make this and serve it in a different way, let me know so I can try it!
This week we had a few new members join Drennon Creek Farm (which is where Misfit Farm just moved to). Check out these cuties! I can't wait until Stella, my cow that is more of a dog than a cow, has her calf. All of my girls have names (Stella, Bella, Della, Bailey, Bea, and Berri). Hopefully Stella will have a little heifer so I can name her! If so I'll need some name suggestions, because I'm running out of names that rhyme with hers!
Hope everyone has a great week! Don't forget to wash your produce!!
