CSA Week 15

Hello, hello! Happy Thursday! Here's what's in the box this week:

-Sweet Corn

-Cucumbers

-Tomatoes

-SunGold Cherry Tomatoes

-Peppers: Bell, Hot Banana, Sweet Banana, Cayenne

-Watermelon or Canteloupe

-Zucchini & Summer Squash

-Green Beans (bi-weekly only)

-Eggplant (Double bi-weekly only)

Woohoo- sweet corn time!! The first ears are small but boy are they sweet! The raccoons, opossums, and deer have done a number on our poor corn this year but they haven't touched the second planting, and I've been trapping a relocating at least one critter each night.

Banana Pepper White Pizza

Ingredients:

-Pizza dough (I just get the kind in a tube)

-Olive Oil

-Italian Seasoning

-Garlic Powder

-Banana Peppers, sliced into rings

-Shredded Mozzarella or Italian blend cheese

-Chicken, Pepperoni, Sausage, or any other toppings you'd like!

Directions:

-Preheat oven to 425.

-Roll out your dough and brush on the crust. Leave about 1/2 inch around the edge.

-Add seasonings to the oiled crust, then the peppers. Add your other chosen toppings as well. I really like to add chicken and sometimes spinach.

-Spread cheese on top. You can garnish the top with a few more banana pepper rings if you'd like.

-Bake for about 15 minutes.

I honestly can't believe we are already at week 15. This season has just flown by this year! I was excited to be able to harvest corn this week, and it really made me realize just how far along the season is. We have several things going out of season right now, but we also have several new things coming up. Here's a sneak peek of some purple lollo lettuce to the right. I also have fall squash starting to vine out, which this year is delicata and buttercup. The leeks are growing way slower than I thought they would, but surely they will be ready in the next 5 weeks! The Charleston Gray watermelons are also growing very slowly but they are getting huge!

Have a great week and remember to wash your produce!
